Music Tracks for the *TUGS*TUGS*TUGS* crowd! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s New Years Eve!!! Partaaay tiiime :D I love going out and partying with friends. But nothing gets me warmed up better than a good sounding track while dressing up and driving to the party. The next few songs are, in my opinion, one of the best PUMP UP songs. The type that’ll have you bobbing your head while driving pa lang to the party! Then when you get there, you hear the track again and everybody goes craaaazzzyyyyy :D :D :D

Music Myuseek.. More Chill Tracks!

You know that gap between Christmas and New Year’s Day? (it’s dec25 to jan1 fyi) One glorious week of the whole Metro Manila in CHILL MODE. Less traffic, corporate world in hibernation and such good vibes going all around. Not to mention you get to make the most out of your new Christmas gifts! For me, it’s a mix of:

  • driving around, to tagaytay or to subic.
  • I could also go to the beach for the day,
  • stay at home and play videogames 5 hours at a time
  • party with friends!!
  • sleep in ’til forever
  • oh yeah… ENJOYING THE WEATHER! Breezy Metro Manila #doesntgetanybetter

Aside from what you can do, i think that music is important in making sure we get the most out of our rest week. For me, listening to the right kind of music can affect my mood so here are a couple of songs for the week.  Continue reading

Amaya Christmas Party

Of all the Christmas parties this December, I knew this one was going to be fun!! However, I was so excited to see the whole Amaya production again that I didn’t get to take a lot of pictures! :( hassle.. So i just stole from others who did get to take harharhar. But either way, it was great seeing everybody. There were a lot of games and raffles through out the night and there was a great and heartwarming speech from Amaya herself which i hate myself for not being able to video.

Basically, Ms Marian Rivera spoke about Amaya in such a way that everybody in the party could relate to. She may have been speaking for herself but i think all of us felt the same way. Her main points were:

  • thanking the WHOLE production for a job VERY VERY well done
  • explaining how this project has been very different from everything else she has done
  • she mentioned how she was able to become close to the whole cast, something that she had never experienced before.
  • she thanked everyone who was a part of Amaya because she felt loved. in her words “pinakita ko ang buong pagkatao ko sa inyo, minahal ko kayo at minahal niyo rin ako” (i paraphrased a bit)

I think every person who was part of this project can say the same thing. We all left everything on the line for the show. Walang hiyaan na. From the veterans to the newbies, we gave it all! :D In return, we got an experience and made friends we will never forget.

Here is a random bunch of pictures that I was able to scavenge from different people:
*i’ll try to look for more and update this page soon.

On the Philippine Star: A Helping Hand for the Victims of Sendong

Operation Bayanihan: Relief Operations for the victims of Sendong

By Mikael Daez

It’s been a few days since Sendong hit the country. Honestly, I did not have a very clear picture of how devastated the affected areas were. Last Tuesday December 20, I was asked by GMA Network if I was available to fly out to CDO and lend a helping hand. Forunately, I didn’t have other commitments so I immediately agreed help. iPhone 4S = gaming addiction relapse

It is official! I finally have my first cellphone that isn’t the lowest-end model!!! :) It’s pretty surprising when i think about it since i’ve always been into all sorts of gadgets. I want to thank Globe because they have great deals on their iPhone 4S units (i got my 32GB for 10,080 pesos with a 1799 plan!). Either way, one big reason i chose the iPhone over any other handset is because of the games! As i grew older, i started to realize that there was less “quality videogame time” for myself because i was always on the go, working or hanging out with friends (yes, i choose people over videogames any day). But now, i get to whip out my iPhone and sneak in some gaming time while waiting, in the car, right after i wake up, while walking blindly in the mall and being very anti-social or where ever i can sneak my phone around.

It has only been a week since i got my phone, but i find myself hooked onto these three particular games: Continue reading

The legendary “buckle dance” of Amaya…

I’ve written quite a bit about Amaya in my weekly Sunday column for the Philippine Star. I’ve told stories of my experiences and how i had grown with the cast and crew. I think it’s time to pay a visit to a more intimate side.

Anyway, as you would all know, the tagalog words we use in Amaya are DEEP! It is 20,000 leagues under the sea kind of deep that even if youre a filipino teacher, baka ma-nosebleed ka! :p In effect, during tapings, you may not see our bad takes and horrible mispronunciations but they are there and they can be…very interesting.

Having so many different personalities on set, we each have our own way of dealing with mistakes during a scene. I always end up looking down, waving my hand and saying “sorry, direk.” Other cast members will make a face, others will curse the hell out of the world, and at times we all just laugh about it. (can you guess who always curses after they buckle??)

Although, there is a legend that the best actors in the business have a so-called “buckle dance.” — A trademark dance move that comes immediately after the said talented actor buckles when saying his/her lines. Without further ado, presenting the legendary buckle dance of, the one and only, SID LUCERO:

Once again, to everyone who worked so hard to make Amaya the game-changing television show that it is, THANK YOU! I will forever be grateful because you made it extremely memorable. And to those following Amaya, i have a lot more behind the scenes treats. I’ll post them slooowly :) ENJOY!

Music Monday!! Chill Holiday Tracks

It’s christmas, it’s december, it’s cold and the sky is gray. There’s something about that combination that makes the next 5 songs i’m going to post the best ever! I found most of them last holiday season and they were awesome. They were on repeat the whole time — During drives to tagaytay, at home, drinking with buddies, before i sleep, being a loner! haha. They may not be the newest tracks but they definitely aren’t the regular tracks you would hear on the radio. I’d like to think they’re a bit rarer than others. Check it out and let me know what you think. ENJOY! Continue reading

On the Philippine Star: Holiday Midnight Snack Guide! :D

Please do not mind my "photoshop" skills (i used paint hehe) i try

Christmas is in the air (along with the horrendous metro manila traffic) and that means a lot to us Filipinos. We will all be getting our much needed breaks as we unwind, drink, eat and be merry until the wee hours of the morning. From experience, this is also the time of year season that I find myself midnight binging a lot more than usual. After-party binging, spontaneous-hangout-with-friends-late-at-night binging or even eating dinner at midnight because you messed up your body clock with all those Christmas parties you have to attend. Either way, you can expect the midnight dining scene to be packed and I would like to give my own version of the “Midnight Dining Guide” to help out those in search of gastronomic satisfaction.
